Human Resources Director

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The candidate is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. He/she will play an advisory role to the management team in terms of HR policies, labour relations, occupational health and safety, while acting as a resource person for all employees.

Reporting to the President, he/she will be part of the management committee and act as the main HR contact for the teams.

Workforce

  • Carry out the complete recruitment cycle for all positions; determine needs, choose attraction strategies, compile applications, conduct interviews, make recommendations to managers, conduct psychometric tests, provide references and submit letter of offer.
  • Prepare contractual correspondence (hiring letters, termination documents, etc.).

Compensation and benefits.

  • Ensure that the company's salary scales are competitive and up to date.
  • Sits on the salary review committee and advises management on the application of the company's salary policy.
  • Manage contracts and/or policies concerning group insurance, pension plan, vacation, sick days, vacations and all other benefit programs, and answer any questions of contentious interpretation.
  • Ensure the smooth running of bonus programs; prepare and send documents, follow up and coordinate with the payroll department.
  • Participate with the Executive Committee in the development and review of the sales bonus plan.
  • Participate in the management of disputed disability cases (STD/LTD/NSTC).

Work relations

  • Act as liaison between the warehouse manager and his staff for problems, requests, complaints, etc.
  • Liaise between management, legal counsel and relevant government agencies in the event of litigation.
  • Manage termination and dismissal files: prepare documents, coordinate and meet with employee.

Performance appraisals

  • Ensure that the performance appraisal process meets the needs of employees and managers and adjust it as needed, determine the optimal schedule and ensure the validity of the tools in place.
  • Participate in the calibration of performance appraisals by providing comments and approving submitted documents.

Administration

  • Actively participate in the Executive Committee, in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Sit on the Francization Committee.Ensure the preparation of the department's annual budget.
  • Advise senior management and all managers on human resources matters.
  • Perform all other related tasks.
