Purpose
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the incumbent maintains good relations with suppliers to ensure on-time supply of products and to meet an excellent level of customer service, while optimizing overall procurement costs. He is responsible for ensuring sound management of inventory levels to maximize sales opportunities while controlling risks. He/she also supports continuous improvement efforts in the procurement process.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity of the product database.
- Support the product introduction process, including product coding, and ensure the transition in the management mode of these new products.
- Follow up on supplier price list updates and inform Finance; maintain price vigilance, notifying the Purchasing Manager in the event of substantial price increases.
- Perform product coding including product data parameters.
- Ensure and measure healthy stock rotation; analyze inventory levels, identify surpluses and make recommendations (liquidation) i.e. manage stock obsolescence by suggesting products to be discontinued and communicating them to the Product Manager.
- In collaboration with the Product Manager, analyze, support and suggest products to be discontinued/liquidated and execute decisions made by the Product Committee.
- With the support of the Supervisor, determine management parameters in order to make recommendations for regular products according to their origin and particularities in order to maximize the company's profitability.Issue purchase orders to ensure an excellent level of customer service.
- Enter delivery dates confirmed by suppliers into the computer system.
- Communicate with the supplier the information concerning the list of items with purchase forecasts.
- Monitor and ensure product availability for products with forecasts.
- Communicate if there are replenishment issues.
- Analyze back orders to avoid stock-outs.
- Answer sales department questions (availability, cost, local search, technical specifications for existing products).
- Special customer requests - Monitor price list data for conversions (tile cutting).Bring in samples of new products (new product ranges) and inform product managers.
- Carry out containerization of goods, assessing profitability, and follow up on import documents.
- Participate in the processing of claims with suppliers and evaluate suppliers.
Requirements
- College diploma or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5 years minimum relevant experience.
- Ability to multi-task in an organized manner.
- Excellent negotiating and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent judgment, initiative and communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Superior organizational and time management skills to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of management systems, such as SAP, an asset.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).Oral and written bilingualism (French and English).
